I'm sure some of you recognize a new blog name in your readers... that would be me, formally Gorgeous in Wonderland. I have officially changed my name to 'The Princess & the Polish.' My sister actually helped me come up with this one, and yes, the name is based loosely on 'The Princess & the Pea,' I figured it was a cute and catchy blog name... I was going to go with something like Desiree's Daily Chronicles,.. but once princess and the polish came up, it kind of stuck in my head... quite a bit. So, I knew I'd found my new blog name. I believe every lady has an inner princess.. hopefully this blog, going forward, will help you discover her... :) Thank you for continuing to follow me on my rollercoaster journey.
I need help.

Ladies... I need help. What a valuable lesson I have learned in the etiquette of naming your blog. I made a personal decision over the weekend, for myself, to walk away from the relationship I've currently been involved in for over 18 months. The name that he calls me, happens to be tied up in my blog name. So, this is where you guys come in... I'm totally not a creative person at all... I need help in choosing a new blog name. Do you lovely ladies have any ideas? My blog is definitely not geared towards one thing.. its a hodge podge of my life. Nail polish, personal posts, etc. Please leave any suggestions below.. :)
sweet dreams.
Wednesday, February 22, 2012"Happy are those who dream dreams... and are willing to pay the price to make them come true." -Anonymous
Today... I have another one of my new favorites. I should have NEVER purchased my first Deborah Lippmann polish, because its opened the door to all these amazing possibilities.. and having extra money from a bonus at work is NOT going to help my cause, lol. This lovely.. is Sweet Dreams. It is absolutely STUNNING... I love flakie polishes.. I have picked up so many flakie's in the last coupla months that its seriously sickening. One of my favorite colors is pink. So pink base + gold flakie=must have. It was super super hard to capture the beauty of this polish... I dont have a fancy camera or anything like that... I use my iPhone for all my pictures... I dont believe that I have to have a fancy camera to blog, I don't blog to impress people.. ya know what I mean? I blog to share my new found love for all things polish... and share with you guys my obsession./end tangent. The wear on this is amazing. I put it on Monday night, and it hasn't chipped not one bit. Thats pretty shocking to me, because I'm notorious for abuse on my nails and usually have a lot of tip wear in the first day of wearing a polish.
This is in natural light... we haven't had an overwhelming amount of sunlight the last few days, so this was as close as I could get it.
Lamp light.. its STILL so pretty even when you can't see the flakies.
Indoor light.
Look at that PINKIE!!
Mermaid scales.
Saturday, February 18, 2012"Look at this stuff... isn't it neat? Wouldn't you think my collections complete? Wouldn't you think, I'm the girl.. girl who has everything. Look at this trove, treasures untold. How many wonders can one cavern hold? Looking around you'd think.. sure, she's got everything. I've got gadgets and gizmos aplenty... I have whoozits and whatsits galore, you want thingamabobs? I've got twenty. But who cares? No big deal... I want more." ~Ariel, The Little Mermaid
As soon as I saw the first swatch of Deborah Lippmann's Mermaid's Dream.. I knew I HAD to have it. There was no question. I got my first DL polishes from my tax return a couple weeks ago {Glitter in the Air and Across the Universe} and immediately fell in love... I just wish that they weren't so expensive :\ But I had a couple more bucks set aside, so I went ahead and got Mermaid's Dream and Sweet Dreams from HSN.com. This polish in the bottle... does not do it justice.. It is SO amazing once its on the nail. It was opaque for me in almost one coat, but I'm notorious for 3 coats... I just feel better that way. It does dry to a gritty finish, but it looks like a mermaid's tail! It is absolutely stunning, and I couldn't be happier with buying it!
PS. I found 3 more bottles of Sinful Colors Cinderella... I will be drawing names again through random.org from my giveaway to choose the winners... I will do that sometime this weekend and announce them here!

Blurred with flash.
And lastly.. Just throwing in my instagram picture for this... I LOVED how it came out though it doesn't accurately portray the color, lol.
Thankful Thursday.
Thursday, February 16, 2012This week, I am especially thankful for:
{xx}Walking into a conference room exactly 19 months ago today and saying "Hey, I'm Desiree." and shaking the hand of the man that would steal my heart. He's my best friend. The other half to my heart. And my world... just would not be the same. I am thankful for him in ways I could have never imagined. For him, I will always be thankful.
{1} All my followers!
{2} My owl Wallflowers from Bath n Body works.. I got them last season, and love them tremendously!
{3} The new scent "white palm" for the wallflowers!
{4} Continuing on my journey of weight loss! I'm slowly but surely starting to lose pounds.
{5} Having a best friend that supports me on that journey. Who forces me to get up and walk around our work building everyday, twice a day, because she knows its a goal we can both accomplish!
{6} Getting a bonus and a merit raise this year at work. I dont really go into depth about my job very much, but I'm basically a team lead in a call center. I'm one step below an assistant manager. We had a fairly big layoff at the end of October (which is when the other half to my heart lost his job), and I was definitely not expecting a bonus or a raise. I've spent a lot of time the last few months feeling somewhat under-appreciated, because I *DO* balance a lot on my shoulders at work... things that people don't even know about because its "behind the scenes." So its really nice to go into your review meeting, and hear the words "you do great work, we really appreciate it." and seeing a figure on paper that is definitely more than I expected.
{7} A mother who instilled such a strong work ethic in me. My mom has worked a full-time job ever since I can remember. I know that I get my work ethic from her... The only reasons I call in to work are for snow. And if I happen to be running a fever.
{8} sockmonkeys.
{9} FINALLY finding the 3rd book in the Hunger Games series, so I can finish it! I am SO OBSESSED with that series.. it is totally, one of the best I've read. And I had so many doubts about it when I started reading them. Can't wait for the movie.. and I probably, most definitely, pre-ordered the entire Capital Colours collection from China Glaze. *blushes*
{10} headbands! I'm back into my cute, girly headbands phase.... Once my hair gets longer after I have a mental breakdown and cut it off.. I tend to always go back to wearing cutsey headband things.

What are YOU thankful for this week?
thank you! and winners!
Tuesday, February 14, 2012Oh my gosh you guys.. I am absolutely blown away by the response to my giveaway, I totally didn't expect 14 responses! I expected maybe 2 or 3, but I wish I had 14 bottles! I am also blown away by the fact that many of you, if not all, chose to follow me... that humbles me. I am in the process of going back and following each of you that chose to follow me.. I'm definitely not one of those bloggers that has to have hundreds and hundreds of followers, that's why I did not make following me a requirement to win something. I really and truly wanted to so something nice for ladies that may be lemming what I was for the longest time. So, thank YOU! I will keep trying to stalk my local Walgreen's stores, and if I happen upon some Cinderella... who knows, maybe I'll random.org more numbers ;)
Secondly, the winners have been chosen and contacted! This was my first giveaway ever, so I definitely probably don't have all the kinks worked out, but I think it worked out pretty well... There were 14 replies to the giveaway, so I just went to random.org and chose 2 winners! The winners were based on which comment they were... :) I figure that was the easiest way for all of us.
The first winner is..... Jeni!
The second winner was.... Heather at Mouthful of Sunshine!!
The formalitys: Both winners have been contacted and have 48 hours to respond before another winner is chosen!
I will continue to keep my eyes peeled for more bottles of Cinderella... I'll keep you updated ;)
Valentines Day giveaway!
Monday, February 13, 2012In honor of Valentines Day, and the fact that giving away free things makes me happy,.. I decided to host my very first giveaway. I've never ever done this, so this could be a natural disaster in the making,... but here's to trying.

-ALL you have to do is leave a comment down below, and let me know your email address and GFC name. So easy! No promotions. No liking me on Facebook... no sharing me with anyone! {Being a follower would be incredible -- but I'm not trying to bribe! LOL.}
-Giveaway will be open from now until 9pm EST time tomorrow, Valentines Day!
-2 winners will be chosen by random.org.
*THE PRIZE*
Up for grabs are 2 bottles of Cinderella by Sinful Colors! I've known I wanted to do a giveaway for V-Day for awhile, but was really unsure of what to try to giveaway, until I realized how popular Cinderella is... I happened to pick up 2 extra bottles when I bought mine, so I thought, why not?! The picture below, I realize, makes it look like there are 4 bottles to giveaway, but I promise there are only 2! ;)
Thankful Thursday.

YES, I'm finally getting this back on track!
This week I am especially thankful for:
{1.} A date night with my mommy to the Olive Garden, and to see Celtic Woman in concert... If you have never heard of them.. they are amazing. But then again, I'm a weirdo and love anything Celtic/Irish... Michael Flatley is a definite favorite of mine... bonus points if you know who that is.
{2.} Menchies frozen yogurt with gummy worms! OMG.
{3.} Beginning a walking regime with one of my besties, Marissa. We basically walk 2 laps around our work building twice a day.
{4.} Getting back in the habit of drinking water.. I've lost 5 pounds just doing that!
{5.} The other half of my heart loving his new job.. and not being in management.. To the point that it has practically eliminated the stress from his life... therefore eliminating the stress from us. I do miss working with him, but I'd rather have him alive another 30+ years, than dying from a heart attack due to stress.
{6.} Breaking my 6 month hiatus of no heat styling to go out with my mom... and straightening my hair, and realizing how great a difference no heat styling has done for my hair! And how long its getting.. I hadn't had a straightener or blowdryer to my hair in almost 2 months!
What are you thankful for this week?
glitter runs through my veins.
"The most beautiful discovery two friends can make.. is that they can grow separately, without growing apart."
First of all, I changed my layout.. again. I feel like this one is more seamless and clean. What do you guys think? Second, I'm considering doing a giveaway.. nothing huge.. and not to gain followers, but to show my appreciate to those of you who have been with me & stayed... :) What do you think? I PROMISE it'll be good!
I feel like glitter absolutely runs through my veins. Today I have for you, one of my favorite favorite glitters. Diamond in the Rough from the Wet N Wild Ice Baby collection! It took FOREVER for any of my Walgreens to get this collection, but as soon as it did, I swiped up like 6 of them. This sort of reminds me of Some Like it Haute from CG, so I actually refrained from buying that one... even though anyone that knows me, KNOWS that I love Marilyn Monroe, so the fact that they had a collex that centered around her... was very very difficult for me to resist. This was opaque in 2 coats, but I'm a notorious 3 coater. The glitter was a PITA to get off.. But I've developed my own little trick... I fill the cap of the bottle with remover, and soak each finger for a minute or two.. then scrub a little.. much easier!
its sooo sparkly in the sunlight.. It caught my eye several times!
Yes.. my car is where I take my outside shots on pretty days, lol.
OMGGG.. blurry glittery goodness!!
And just for fun... the picture I posted on Instagram of this mani! :)
Happy Thursday everyone!
sandwich.
Monday, February 6, 2012"You wanna know what living life to the fullest actually is? It's waking up on a Monday morning with no complaints. It's knowing you always deserve to laugh. It's doing what feels right no matter what. It's doing what you want to, no matter how stupid you look. It's about being yourself, cause no one can tell you you're doing it wrong. "
Today, I have something super exciting... atleast.. for me. Maybe not you ;) But I am part of PaA on Facebook.. and Monday's challenge was a "jelly sandwich" or glitter sandwich... I'll be honest and say I've NEVER tried this before... But I am so glad I did! I think for my first time it turned out pretty well. It's definitely something I'll try again with different polishes!
i LOVE it! its 2 coats of OPI Funny Bunny (one of my favoritest polishes ever), 1 coat of Pure Ice Spitfire (which is a really really pretty dense-ish pink glitter), 1 coat of OPI Rainbow Connection, 1 more coat of Funny Bunny, and a top coat of Seche Vite! WHEW! That's alotta coats, but I LOVE the outcome.
The process of the jelly/glitter sandwich.. I almost didn't make it a sandwich, because I thought this was pretty by itself.
Blurry and flashy... look at all that glitter!
And the final product with the final coat of Funny Bunny!
What do you guys think?! Have you ever done a jelly/glitter sandwich!? Show me your link if so ;) I might get inspiration for my next one... to your credit of course! Happy Monday!
xx,
Desirée
